How to Use Google Password Manager on Android

A password manager is a great thing to use if you want your passwords to be secure and easy to remember. Google’s password manager built into Chrome is a popular option that also works on Android.

While we don’t necessarily recommend everyone use their browser’s password manager, it’s still better than nothing. Additionally, Google’s password manager has improved tremendously over the years. If you use it in Google Chrome on your computer, you should also use it on Android. We’ll show you how.

Before we start, we need to make sure that Google’s password manager is configured as an “Autofill” service on your Android device. Thus, the passwords you save will be automatically generated when you need to log in to an application or website.

Swipe down once or twice (depending on your phone) from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon to open Settings.


Scroll down to the “Passwords and Accounts” section. On a Samsung Galaxy device, you need to go to General Management > Passwords & Autofill.

Tap on the “Passwords and Accounts” section.

Now select the service that is in the list of “Autofill Services”. It may already be “Google”.

Choose “Google” from the list if it’s not already selected.

Then return to the previous “Passwords and Accounts” screen. You will see “Google” listed under “Passwords”. Touch it.

This is where you can decide if you want Google to offer to save your passwords when you enter them into apps and websites in Chrome. You can choose to automatically log in to websites and receive alerts when your passwords have been compromised.
