Google is finally making it easier to switch from iOS to Android, this time for everyone

Google expands the possibilities of its application facilitating the transfer from iOS to Android. Now, all Android smartphones with OS version 12 are supported.

Do you want to leave the iPhone in favor of an Android smartphone that is not linked to a specific brand? Now you can, with the extended compatibility of the “Switch to Android” app. As Frandroid notes, Google announced on June 29, 2022 that software support on iOS now covers all phones on Android 12 – the most recent version of the OS.

All Android 12 smartphones are supported

The iOS to Android migration tool made its debut in mid-April, but with the utmost discretion. The Mountain View firm had not communicated. It was the media that had spotted the arrival of the application, probably because this program still had a limited functioning. The generalization to all devices equipped with Android 12 allows Google to promote it.

Until now, only Pixels were processed, which drastically limited the interest of this application, our colleagues also recall. It was to forget that Android 12 is a much more open, diversified and fragmented ecosystem than the iPhone. There are dozens of brands. Note, however, also a small constraint on the iOS side: the installed version must be at least the twelfth.

The transfer procedure is obviously intended to be as user-friendly as possible, so that people who are not the most computer-savvy have almost nothing to do. The connection can be made either wirelessly or with the iPhone cable. Instructions will appear explaining how to switch their photos, contacts, calendars, applications, and so on.

If you’re switching from an iPhone to an Android smartphone, it may be because you’re changing ecosystems. In this case, it is important to determine what you intend to do with your data in Apple’s cloud — iCloud. You can certainly leave them, but you may want to switch them to Google’s cloud. We can think of photos, for example.

With the upcoming arrival of Android 13, which is expected during the summer, it is certain that Google will extend support for the application to the next generation. We are also starting to have a small list of smartphones compatible with Android 13. Nokia, Lenovo, OnePlus, Oppo, Asus are some of the manufacturers who have started to announce their plans with this OS.
