Alpine wins the 6 Hours of Monza, Peugeot suffered

The 6 Hours of Monza on Sunday was very lively. Between the abandonment of the Glickenhaus, when it led the debates for half of the race, the numerous duels between the Alpine and the Toyotas, the setbacks of Peugeot for its return to endurance, the Italian fans had what to enjoy. And we are only talking about the Hypercar category here.

In the end, it was the Alpine de Negrao – Lapierre – Vaxivière which won, scoring a second success this season after the first race, at Sebring. The #8 Toyota (Buemi – Hartley – Hirakawa) finished close, 2.7s behind, and the #7 Toyota (Conway – Kobayashi – Lopez) finished third, two laps away, after being penalized 90 seconds for a collision with the French prototype. The Peugeot clan was not spared by mechanical problems, with an abandonment for the n°93 (Di Resta – Jensen – Vergne) and the 33rd place for the n°94 (Duval – Menezes – Rossiter), at 25 laps of the Alpine.

In all categories, the race was intense and close until the end. In LMP2, the n°41 Realteam by WRT (Andrade – Habsburg – Nato) won ahead of the n°38 Jota and the Vector Sport of Sébastien Bourdais. In GTE Pro, Corvette Racing (Tandy – Milner) took advantage of a Ferrari pit stop in the final minutes to win. And in GTE Am, it was the #77 Porsche of Dempsey – Proton Racing (Ried – Priaulx – Tincknell) that took the win.
